BSF Alpine Thanksgiving Camp 2012
November 17 - 25, 2012

Colorado! We will be staying in condos in Silverthorne, Co., training mostly at Loveland Basin where we can train next to World Cup Teams!  On Friday, we will travel to Aspen to watch a women's World Cup race.  We will also train at Copper Mountain one day and we may train at another “newer” training venue in the area.

Cost is $1500 and covers food (including a huge Thanksgiving feast), transportation from Bozeman, lodging, tickets, lane rental, coaching, video sessions, dryland sessions, mental training sessions.  This cost may drop closer to $1400 depending on number of sign-ups.

Miscellaneous:

  • Most athletes will miss 2 days of school so we will have study sessions.
  • The camp will be open to non-BSF members.
  • The camp will be limited to 12yr's and older.

We will focus on skiing in an athletic stance.  Our camp goals:  1) Parallel skis, 2) Ski-snow contact, and 3) Pressure in the fall-line.  At this camp we will also work on shifting our apex and our transition (cross-over) higher.  Our main focus will be GS and SL (with possible SG).

Coaching Staff:

  • Roger Bay, Head Coach at BSF. Roger has coached ski racing for 30 years. He has coached at with the US Ski Team for 9 years.
  • Kris Shampeny, FIS traveling coach at BSF. Kris competed up through the college NCAA level.  He has extensive “speed” experience and is an excellent coach and role model.  Kris has coached juniors and also at the college level.
  • Alyssa Deane,  Comp Team coach at BSF.  Alyssa raced out of Casper, Wyoming, and then raced back East at the collegiate level.  She coached for a year at Waterville Valley and also last year at BSF.  She is a great coach and a great down-to-earth person.
  • Sophie Ostroski, 4th year BSF Coach.  Sophie raced through High School then played Field Hockey in College.  She started coaching ski racing when she was in college and has continued coaching at BSF.  She is an energetic ball of fire, our main BSF conditioning coach and is ready to take you to the next level.

More coaches will be added as needed.
